An Efficient Heat Source for Any Home

Today's medium and high efficiency gas furnaces are very compact cabinets, manufactured with low profile designs for easy installation in any home. Engineered to minimize operating sound, gas furnaces run quietly and efficiently and are equipped with hot surface to pilot ignition for reliable starting. All of our gas furnaces are backed by a standard manufacturers warranty with manufacturers extended warranty packages of five or ten years parts and labour coverage available.

THE DECISION TO EITHER PUT IN A MID OR HIGH EFFICIENCY FURNACE SHOULD BE BASED ON SOME OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  1. Do you have an existing chimney which is lined and in good shape? If not, a high efficiency furnace may be a better choice.
  2. How long will you remain in the existing home? Will the payback of high efficiency versus mid efficiency be worthwhile? Typical payback on a high efficient model can be 5 to 10 years.
  3. Since the average payback for gas savings alone are between 40 - 50 dollars per year, is the payback for high efficiency versus mid efficiency reasonable?
  4. Where do you feel the price of gas will go in the future? A 20% increase in gas prices will dramatically increase the current payback on a high efficient furnace.
  5. Will the increased electrical savings (on mid or high efficiency) make a D.C. fan motor worthwhile to you? Also, is operating sound an important criteria for you?
  6. Will a single stage versus a two stage or modulating model be more worthwhile for you?

NOTE: MOST EXISTING FURNACES ARE OVERSIZED AND PROPER SIZING IS CRITICAL TO PEAK EFFICIENCY AND COMFORT.

The best furnace is one that is properly sized, properly installed, properly serviced and maintained with the longest manufacturers warranty available.

Mid Efficiency Gas Furnaces

Mid efficient gas furnaces are approximately 80% efficient, available in either single stage or two stage. They must be connected to an approved chimney, and be provided with combustion air. Some sizes of one stage and all sizes of two stage furnaces must be vented in b-vent from furnace to chimney, others may be vented in single wall c-vent.

Mid efficient furnaces also have the option of different types of fan motors; direct current vs. alternating current control, which if the fan is run constantly, may save you in excess of $250.00 per year on electricity alone plus a gas savings of 10 - 20 % per year, as compared to a conventional model gas furnace approximately 60% efficient. Two stage furnaces will enhance your comfort level, with the effect of having much more even temperature levels, as well as being considerably quieter than one stage models.

High Efficiency Gas Furnaces

High efficiency gas furnaces are approximately 90 to 96% efficient. Available in one stage, two stage or modulating (various stages of heat), combustion air is provided directly into combustion chamber. Most high efficient furnaces are vented in a two pipe configuration done in  PVC plastic piping. A chimney is not required for a high efficient furnace but rather the furnace is vented outside similar to a dryer vent.

High efficient furnaces are available with different types of fan motors; direct current or alternating current control, which if the fan is run constantly, may save you in excess of $250.00 per year on electricity alone plus you gas savings of 20 - 30% per year, as compared to a conventional furnace. The two stage or modulating furnaces will enhance you comfort level, with the effect of creating more even temperatures within your home or office, as well as being considerably quieter than a one stage model.
